21st Century Bohemian Style
Fashion and Textile Museum, 83 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3XF
What does it mean to be a ‘bohemian’ in the 21st century. Associated with the avant-garde and the pursuit of unconventional values, bohemians have inhabited the literary and artistic landscape since the 19th century. Originally a description for travellers from Bohemia, the term has since been used to describe the style of a range of people from Vanessa Bell and Winston Churchill to Talitha Getty, and more recently Sienna Miller and Kate Moss.
Join Virginia James, the Creative & Design Director of EAST with a panel of academics, writers and style experts to discuss the origins of bohemian style and how elements have been adapted and interpreted by different generations.
The evening will include a glass of wine on arrival, a viewing of the ‘Thea Porter: 70s Bohemian Chic’ exhibition and the panel discussion from 6.15pm.
