FTM Evening Tour: Rayne Shoes

WHEN:

Thu July 9th 2015
Ended

WHERE:

London

WHAT:

A rare opportunity to learn more about the history of Rayne shoes from a member of the curatorial team and Nick Rayne, great-grandson of the company’s founders, Henry and Mary Rayne. Rayne opened doors in 1885 as a theatrical shoemaker gracing the feet of London’s leading actors and dancers. The business evolved to become a favourite of Britain’s great and good and, in 1936, Queen Mary gave the company a royal warrant. Many other members of the Royal Family became customers. Her Majesty The Queen chose to wear Rayne shoes for her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947, and remained loyal to the company for years. By the 1950s, anyone who was anyone wore Rayne shoes and the flagship shop in Old Bond Street attracted some of Hollywood’s greatest actresses

Tour starts 6.30pm and will last approximately 20-30 minutes. Museum closes 8pm. Ticket includes admission to RIVIERA STYLE Resort & Swimwear since 1900 exhibition, which guests are welcome to view before or after the tour.
