A potentially lucrative licensing deal is at the center of Barneys’ reported rescue plan. According to Reuters, the New York-headquartered luxury department-store chain, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August, is nearing a roughly $270 million deal with Authentic Brands, the brand developer that maintains a wide roster of fashion and apparel companies, ranging from Juicy Couture and Judith Leiber to Jones New York, Volcom, and Aéropostale.
