WHAT:

A one-day symposium exploring historic and contemporary menswear, the zoot suit, avant-garde fashion designers, and Gregory Peck’s close ties with London’s Savile Row will be held in conjunction with the special exhibition, Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear, 1715–2015, on view in BCAM from April 10–August 21, 2016.

Speakers will include Tim Blanks, editor-at-large of The Business of Fashion; Peter McNeil, professor of design history at the University of Technology, Sydney and Aalto University, Finland; Kathy Peiss, professor of American history at the University of Pennsylvania; and Anthony Peck, writer and producer. Also participating will be the co-curators of Reigning Men—senior curator Sharon S. Takeda, curator Kaye D. Spilker, and assistant curator Clarissa M. Esguerra—from LACMA’s costume and textiles department.
