i18n Launch Event

WHEN:

Thu February 26th 2015
Ended

WHERE:

London

WHAT:

British-Chinese artist and Chicmi co-founder Aowen Jin's ambitious new exhibition at the award-winning Horniman Museum and Gardens fills the entire room with mystical creations from Chinese traditional stories. Imagine a Sistine-Chapel-style magical room, where viewer can only see the works with UV torches.

The work creates a direct connection between traditional art and modern technology - i18n is tech shorthand for internationalization, the means with which cultures can communicate using technology. This is especially relevant to the museum, which is based on a vast Victorian era collection created by tea trader Frederick John Horniman - a man on the cusp of early globalisation.

The work will premiere as part of a Chinese Lates event on the 26th at 6:30pm.
