The Nunnery, 181 Bow Road, London, E3 2SJ
Raw Materials: Textiles will examine the rich and little-known history of textiles along the Nunnery Gallery's local River Lea Valley. The exhibition traces the Lea's textile history from the 17th Century to the present day, including silk, calico and jute and the invention of dye colours. The exhibition will tell the stories of industry through loans and archival material, alongside newly commissioned works by the project’s resident artists Freya Gabie and Sarah Desmarais.
