"Join Neisha Crosland at the Fashion and Textile Museum as she shares her own story as a designer, exploring a myriad of cultural pathways and making unusual connections along the way. Crosland sees pattern everywhere. Her extraordinary eye seeks out symmetry, order and structure wherever she goes: in artefacts, buildings, paintings and, above all, in nature. Crosland believes that in art nothing is ever truly original and this talk is an opportunity to make a virtual journey with Neisha, through many continents and eras, to explore how patterns evolve. Taking inspiration from the Basilica di San Marco in Venice to Mughal India, from Moorish Spain to Jacobean England, from 17th-century shell-collecting to Russian Constructivist paintings, Crosland explores the ways a technique or colour can reinvent a design, and how that design can alter its mood when placed in a different context."
