This 30 minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A, and runs both in the afternoon from 12:30 to 13:30, or in the evening from 18:30 to 20:30. In it, designer Andrew McGregor will be discussing the symbolic and eco-luxe aesthetic of the pineapple in contemporary culture, and why he has chosen to adopt it within his practice and future exploration. Throughout the centuries, there has been a global fascination with the pineapple – from its humble beginnings right up to its affiliation with the bourgeoisie and royalty – its creative impact is unrivalled. This talk addresses past influences, the present representation and the future potential of this enigmatic icon.

This talk is being presented as part of The Pineapple Room pop up social hub, open from April 24th - April 30th. A showcase of footwear and design made with progressive pineapple leaf-derived fabric Piñatex™ and sustainable materials.
