What educational events will I find?

London has hugely active fashion industry, and the town is full of movers and shakers in the world's fashion scene. This means that throughout the city there are a wealth of fascinating talks, panel discussions, tutorials, masterclasses and more that you can attend all year round. The ones in this category are suitable for everyone, regardless of whether you work in the fashion industry or not.

Do I need to be a student?

Absolutely not. The events on this page are open to the public, although do check the individual event listings, as not all events are free and you may have to book a place, become a member, or pay in advance.

Who organises these events?

There are a range of organisations that run these educational sessions. Museums like the V&A, the Fashion & Textile Museum and the National Portrait Gallery will often have a range of educational programmes that run alongside any exhibition that they're running. In these fascinating sessions you can often meet the curator or an expert in the subject of the exhibition.

Colleges and universities like the London College of Fashion or Goldsmiths also run seminars or panel discussions that are extracurricular can be attended by students and members of the public alike. In these sessions you can discover detailed insight into a particular fashion-related topic or discipline.

Finally brands themselves can often put on educational sessions where you can meet the designers or hear about how a particular collection came together. Look out especially for events at department stores - frequently you'll find events at Liberty or Selfridges when new designers are added to the range, or when a designer launches a particularly exciting new collection.
